A recent report by Badenoch and Clark highlights the fact that workplaces could still do much more to promote inclusivity for disabled people in the workplace.
45% of workers with a physical disability felt their workplace could do more to offer an inclusive environment, and over half of those surveyed have tried to hide their disability from their employer. Even more worrying was the finding that 2 in 5 employers felt their workplace does not embrace inclusivity of diversity at any level.
OTs and other healthcare professionals can have a positive role to play in both helping workplaces adapt to the needs of those with disabilities, and helping their patients feel more confident in speaking out when their needs are not met.
