At Recliners. we are driven to create the best, most effective seating solutions we can, and we’re always striving to improve the quality of our products and the experience for our users. So when we were introduced to The Assistive Technologies Innovation Centre in the University of Wales Trinity Saint David earlier this year, it was immediately obvious that our organisations were a perfect match.
The ATIC project is an innovation hub that was set up to help healthcare technologies make the step from idea into real world solutions. They provide firms and start-ups with access to academic expertise and state of the art technologies to help them develop and improve their products.
When we showed them our MultiCare Plus model, and explained we were looking for ways to make it even more beneficial for users, they immediately suggested creating a 3D CAD model of the chair. This would allow us to make and test adjustments – essentially to make virtual prototypes to the chair. The possibilities are endless.
Not only that, but the result looks great: a fully interactive, 3D CAD model of our favourite chair. Users can take a tour of its features and really get to know the chair.
We ‘debuted’ the 3D modelling at the recent OT Show, and needless to say all who strapped the headset on and got to know the chair virtually were impressed.
Moving forwards, we are excited about the results our future collaborations with ATIC will bring, as it will help us continue to do what we love best – innovate the best chairs we can for you.
